Trekking in the Cordon del Plata, Vallecitos
This exclusive trek through the Andes will take you to the high peaks of the Cordón del Plata, where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views. We’ll travel to Vallecitos, 90 km from Mendoza, the perfect starting point to connect with the mountains.
Early in the morning, our driver will pick you up to head to the Cordón del Plata Provincial Park. After a two-hour drive, our mountain guide will provide instructions before we begin the hike. We will first ascend Cerro Arenales (3,400 masl) and then Cerro Lomas Blancas (3,700 masl), a demanding but accessible route for those in good physical condition.
Along the way, we’ll traverse safe high-altitude trails, passing through ravines, fresh water springs, and spotting native wildlife such as condors and guanacos. After four hours of hiking, we’ll have lunch at a natural viewpoint with stunning panoramic views of the Andes.
As we return to Mendoza at sunset, we’ll take home unforgettable memories of the majestic Cerro El Plata. At SAK Wine & Travel, we promote sustainable tourism and the conservation of water, a vital resource for our province.

Itinerary

What do you need for this tour?
Essential items
We suggest you to bring these items for personal use to make your excursion perfect:
- Small backpack.
- Extra mineral water.
- Personal care items (lip balm with sunscreen, sunscreen, antibacterial gel/wipes, insect repellent).
- Special clothing: comfortable clothing appropriate to the weather forecast and footwear suitable for the activity.
Safety tips: Inform the guide or driver about any illness, allergy or physical restriction. Remember to bring your medication and administration instructions.
Note: The best clothing for mountain activities is wool or synthetic materials in layers, as they dry quickly and keep warmth better. We suggest a base layer, then an intermediate layer, such as a light fleece coat or similar, and then a windproof and waterproof layer.
