Pruning experience in Mendoza’s best vineyards

On this excursion you will experience the pruning of emblematic vineyards in Mendoza and learn from the inside how each plant is treated before it begins to bear fruit. Surrounded by the best views of the Andes Mountains, this experience will take place during the winter months. We will learn the importance of bud renewal and how it influences the future of the plant.

A little more than twenty minutes from the city, we will visit a winery and learn about their history. We will observe the work of the winemakers, the treatment of the different vines and the results they seek from each plant with the different types of pruning.

Early in the morning, a private vehicle from Sak will pick us up at the lodge to take us to the selected winery. Here our experienced guides will give us scissors, apron and hat to do the pruning. Then we will have an introductory talk with the agronomist where he will show us the more technical aspects of the work. We will learn the different types of cuts and what each of them looks for in the plant. We will learn why this task is carried out between the months of July and August, and the importance of doing it when the plant is dormant.

During the tour through the vineyards, we will be able to taste some of the winery’s varietals, which will allow us to connect with the terroir from the most intimate point of view.

Finally, we will celebrate all that we have learned by celebrating our work with a typical wood-fired “asado” and the best flavors of the local cuisine. In this outing it will be exciting to learn all about the vine and its processes, we will understand how the plant is prepared for what is to come: the birth of wine.

After this outing, you will know where the flavor, intensity and texture that we enjoy so much in every glass comes from. Connecting with the vine from the beginning will undoubtedly help us understand this magical world.
