Group excursion to the High Andes with a visit to Cristo Redentor
In the Andes Mountains there is a monument that unites Chile and Argentina, two peoples separated by this mountain range. Christ the Redeemer is located more than 4000 meters above the border line of these two countries and represents peace between them.
This area has unique and unrepeatable landscapes. After every turn you will be surprised with large ravines, valleys, streams, rivers and huge snow-capped peaks. Village after village, the arms of the Cordillera will open to welcome us.
We will pick you up early in the morning at your lodging. We will share a long but entertaining ride to Christ the Redeemer with a lively group of tourists. At the beginning of this economic tour we will visit the town of Cacheuta. Then we will visit the Potrerillos Dam, a water mirror at the foot of the village that bears his name, and where we will find some artisans.
Continuing along the international route, our guide will give you information about the mountain history and its influence on Mendoza’s culture. The next destination will be Uspallata and then the Penitentes ski resort.
Then we will stop at Puente del Inca, a natural formation with unique hot springs that will catch your attention for its colors and its importance for the Inca culture. After a short walk we will continue along the river until we see the Aconcagua, where you can take some pictures from the natural viewpoint to continue on our way to the border with the Republic of Chile.
Upon reaching the remote village of Las Cuevas and if the weather conditions are good, we will take a small dirt road that runs along the slopes of the Santa Elena mountain. We will climb up to 4200 meters to reach the base of the monument of Christ the Redeemer, a symbol of peace and brotherhood between two peoples. At this place the guide will explain the history and we will have time to walk around the place enjoying the impressive snowy peaks that surround it and the ancestral silence of the mountain. With that unique feeling of freedom we will start our return to Mendoza City.
Bring a coat in your backpack! In Alta Montaña the weather can surprise you. At the Cristo Redentor monument the wind is usually very strong and there is a big temperature difference due to the altitude.

– Special clothing: hat or cap, sunglasses, comfortable and warm clothing (fleece/sweater, windbreaker), appropriate footwear for the activity.
