Visit to Altos Limpios – HUARPE COMMUNITY – PVD
In this tour, you’ll discover the desert landscape of Mendoza and meet the native Huarpe communities. In the northern part of the province, in the department of Lavalle, you’ll learn about the ancestral culture and culinary traditions of the indigenous people. We’ll begin the day with an explanation about the region’s first inhabitants and then visit the Telteca Provincial Reserve, where we’ll explore the local flora and fauna.
Next, we’ll head to the Altos Limpios, an impressive landscape with dunes up to 20 meters high, perfect for sandboarding and taking photos. We’ll finish with a traditional meal at a local establishment, where we’ll share with the inhabitants of the indigenous villages and enjoy typical dishes like empanadas and “chivito a las llamas.” This experience connects with Mendoza’s history and its native people while contributing to water conservation.

What do you need for this tour?
Essential items
We suggest you to bring these items for personal use to make your excursion perfect:
- Small backpack.
- Extra mineral water.
- Personal care items (lip balm with sunscreen, sunscreen, antibacterial gel/wipes, insect repellent).
- Special clothing: comfortable clothing appropriate to the weather forecast and footwear suitable for the activity.
Safety tips: Inform the guide or driver about any illness, allergy or physical restriction. Remember to bring your medication and administration instructions.
Note: The best clothing for mountain activities is wool or synthetic materials in layers, as they dry quickly and keep warmth better. We suggest a base layer, then an intermediate layer, such as a light fleece coat or similar, and then a windproof and waterproof layer.
