Private tour to the High Andes by Villavicencio

Discover sensations and new paths is the objective of this tour. We will visit the High Summits and we will see the Aconcagua Mountain, one of the highest in the world, going through an alternative route full of history, nature and surprising places.

To the northwest of the city of Mendoza there is a road that in the past connected the port of Buenos Aires with Valparaiso. Today it is used for tourism and leisure purposes, but it is still recognized for the diversity of flora and fauna, the natural reserve and its incredible landscapes.

We will pick you up at your accommodation first thing in the morning. This tour is personalized and you choose the time to be in each place! Together with our driver and an expert guide we will head to the road to Villavicencio. A few kilometers from the city we will find the monument of Canotas, a historical place where the first pages of the Sanmartinian heroic deeds that liberated our country were written. Then we will enter the Villavicencio Natural Reserve and learn about the history of the iconic hotel, walk through its terraces and manicured gardens. We will continue our journey up a winding road where we will be able to observe native fauna such as guanacos and, if we are lucky, a condor, the protective bird of the Andes. When we reach 3100 meters above sea level, we will descend to the Cruz de Paramillo to learn about the history of the first mine exploited in Argentina. This is the highest point of the trip and here we will be able to observe one of the faces of the imposing Aconcagua.

We will start the descent to the Uspallata valley where we will have lunch in a comfortable place in the well known mountain village. The magic of this touristic pole is enchanting, but the Centinela de Piedra and its 6961 meters awaits us! After lunch we will take the route along the river until we reach the Aconcagua Provincial Park, it will be love at first sight, and you will be impressed with the colossus of America. Upon arrival you will have time to take some pictures from the viewpoint and take the best souvenir of one of the highest mountains in the world. We will learn about the native flora and fauna of this wonderful place. And also the stories and legends that build the mystique of the Giant that attracts thousands of climbers from all over the world.

After breathing pure mountain air, we will start our way back to the city by the well known Route 7. We will return with our eyes full of endless landscapes and the unforgettable traveler smile that only comes after a unique experience like this.

You will get to know a part of the history that defines our identity. Surely after this tour you will understand our culture better.

At SAK Wine & Travel, we design each experience in harmony with nature and local communities. We want our travelers to return home feeling that change has begun and that travel is a powerful opportunity to help build a better world. By traveling with us, you are helping to protect Mendoza’s water.

What do you need for this tour?

Essential items

We suggest you to bring these items for personal use to make your excursion perfect:

– Small backpack.

– Extra mineral water.

– Personal care items (lip balm with sunscreen, sunscreen SPF50, antibacterial gel/wipes, insect repellent).

– Special clothing: hat or cap, sunglasses, comfortable and warm clothing (fleece/sweater, windbreaker), appropriate footwear for the activity.

Note: The best clothing for mountain activities is wool or synthetic materials in layers, as they dry quickly and keep warmth better. We suggest a base layer, then an intermediate layer, such as a light fleece coat or similar, and then a windproof and waterproof layer.

Safety tips: Inform the guide or driver of any illnesses, allergies or physical restrictions. Remember to bring your medication and administration instructions.
