Trekking with rappel in Potrerillos
In this trekking with rappel you will enjoy the tranquility of walking at the foot of the Andes and the adrenaline of descending a waterfall 18 meters high in the heart of the mountain.
Potrerillos, a unique town surrounded by hills and the dam that bears its name, is 45 minutes from the city. This area is known for its landscapes and for being the destination of travelers looking for adventure.
Early in the morning we will meet with an enthusiastic group of tourists with whom we will share the tour. We will take National Route 7 towards the mountain. When we arrive at our destination, the guide will give us the necessary information and precautions to take into account during the tour. We will walk for about 2:30 hrs bordering a stream, between mountains, “jarillas” and “cortaderas”. The difficulty of the trekking is moderate, this makes it ideal for all kinds of tourists who want to enjoy an outdoor activity in contact with nature. Following the trail we will see native animals, birds and typical flora of the area.
Arriving at the foot of the imposing waterfall El Salto, we will be amazed with its 18 meters height. Those who want to face the side walls of this waterfall by rappelling will begin to put on the protective equipment. We will put on helmets, gloves and safety harnesses. As we descend we will feel how adrenaline and freedom mix at altitude.
Once we have put our feet on the ground, we will start the return trip. We will return to the city around mid-afternoon to continue exploring and making our stay in Mendoza unforgettable. Washing your face with the ice-cold melt water at El Salto Waterfall will be a pure and refreshing experience.
At SAK Wine & Travel we want our trips to generate the least possible negative impact on the communities that inhabit Mendoza and its surroundings. Through different actions we contribute to the care of water, a fundamental resource for our province. By traveling with us you are joining our sustainable philosophy.
What do I need to know?
Essential items
We suggest you to bring these items for personal use to make your excursion perfect:
– Small backpack.
– Mineral water.
– Personal care items (lip balm with sunscreen, sunscreen SPF50, antibacterial gel/wipes, insect repellent).
– Special clothing: hat or cap, sunglasses, comfortable and warm clothing (fleece/sweater, windbreaker), appropriate footwear for the activity.
Note: The best clothing for mountain activities is wool or synthetic materials in layers, as they dry quickly and keep warmth better. We suggest a base layer, then an intermediate layer, such as a light fleece coat or similar, and then a windproof and waterproof layer.
Safety tips: Inform the guide or driver of any illnesses, allergies or physical restrictions. Remember to bring your medication and administration instructions.
